Job Overview
We are seeking to appoint a caring, approachable and reliable Boarding Assistant from January 2026 to balance pastoral support with practical responsibilities, ensuring pupils feel safe, supported and engaged in boarding life.
Working hours will include one weekday evening per week, 3:45pm to 0:30pm and every other weekend, Saturday 8:00am to 4:00pm and Sunday 9:00am to 5:00pm.
Main duties
Assisting in providing general pastoral care of boarding pupils and creating a homely environment. Communicating with the Houseparent on pastoral issues, regularly checking emails, reading and updating the Duty Book. Assisting the Houseparent in liaising with parents and guardians of boarding pupils. Overseeing laundry arrangements in conjunction with the Housekeeping Manager. Sewing including replacement of buttons, name tapes, repairs to clothes and general repairs to household linen. Giving medication to boarding pupils, where necessary, and keeping records of this in conjunction with other members of the House Team. Liaising with the School Nurse Team about boarding pupils' medical conditions. Taking/escorting pupils to dental and medical appointments, may include driving.
