A leading premium automotive business and leading to move towards electric autonomous vehicles.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a great opportunity for a Chassis System Architect to join the System Engineering team of the Steering, Wheels and Tyres (SWaT) function. Chassis performance can be considered as a combination of longitudinal, lateral and vertical movement. This role represents lateral performance and will meet regularly in a higher-level squad composed of the partner roles from other functions to guide and monitor chassis architecture development.

WHAT TO EXPECT

As a Chassis System Architect, you will be responsible for setting targets for each of the function\'s sub-teams and ownership of overall system. There are several supporting analysis teams across Chassis that will be called upon to evaluate options and support the process.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with all attribute & feature stakeholders to elicit program specific targets.
  • Lead technical decomposition of these targets, supported by the System Chapter Lead Architect & analysis teams, to create compatible sub-system targets and iterate with attribute owners.
  • Construct system solutions, staying within commodity strategy limits wherever possible.
  • Receive and evaluate all requirements and targets relating to SWaT commodities. Resolve conflicts before confirming with commodity owners.
  • Collect and cascade targets to neighbouring solution architects where SWaT (steering, handling and lateral motion) requirements depend on neighbouring functions. his includes kinematics and compliance (K&C) target trading.
  • Negotiate with and support other chassis solution architects where cross-functional solutions are required.
  • Ensure that system level testing is completed and reported according to the design verification plan.
WHAT YOU\'LL NEED

Essential:
  • Knowledge of chassis systems (technology selection, sizing, active vs passive choices)
  • Good understanding of vehicle systems (Tuning experience in Vehicle Dynamics, Steering, Tyre or Kinematics and Compliances)
  • Knowledge of automotive product development (V-Cycle) from concept to launch completion.
  • Previous experience of leading the resolution of business, technical and process issues within a Project Team environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with influencing and engagement skills.
  • Capability to layout and present complex problems (and potential solutions) in an easy-to-understand way for a diverse audience. Able to articulate customer and business impacts clearly.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis techniques (e.g. Six Sigma, 5 Whys, Fishbone, 8D etc)
