Job Overview

We are seeking a friendly and enthusiastic Coffee Shop Assistant to join our new team at Ori Caffe within the John Lewis Store Southampton. The ideal candidate will have a passion for coffee and customer service, with experience in the hospitality industry. As a Coffee Shop Assistant, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming atmosphere for our customers while ensuring the smooth operation of the coffee shop.

Duties

Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks. Assist with food preparation, ensuring all items are presented attractively and meet food safety standards. Provide excellent customer service by taking orders accurately and efficiently while maintaining a friendly demeanour. Handle catering orders as required, ensuring timely delivery and set-up for events. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the coffee shop, including dining areas and food preparation spaces. Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during busy periods. Stay knowledgeable about menu items, including ingredients and preparation methods, to assist customers effectively.

Requirements

Previous experience in a restaurant or cafe setting is preferred, particularly in roles involving serving or barista duties. Strong hospitality skills with an emphasis on customer satisfaction. Knowledge of food safety practices is essential to ensure compliance with health regulations. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude towards teamwork. Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.
