We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Commis to join our culinary team in our central kitchen. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in food preparation and baking, with a keen interest in advancing their culinary skills within a fast-paced kitchen environment. As a Commis, you will play a vital role in supporting the pastry chef in ensuring smooth running of the kitchen, baking, finishing and packing all products, as well as ensuring that high standards of food safety and quality are maintained at all times.
Duties
To assist the Pastry Chef in the creation of desserts, puddings, cookies, gelato etc..
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
To ensure that daily food preparation meet outlined recipes including portion size, quantity and quality.
To remove any hazards and make safe any defects in the kitchen or its equipment and report any problems to a senior chef.
HACCP - To adhere to company procedures in regard to temperature checks, food labelling and dating, cleaning schedules and hygiene regulations at all times ensuring that all records of such are maintained.
Participate in inventory management, including receiving and storing supplies appropriately.
To attend and participate in any training and personal development schemes as recommended by the Head Chef.
To be fully conversant with and be able to implement the required standards of Health and Safety in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work and company procedures and to attend Health & amp; Safety Training as requested.
Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service and high-quality food presentation.
Engage in continuous learning about culinary techniques, food safety practices, and kitchen operations.
Demonstrate leadership qualities by assisting in supervising junior kitchen staff when required.
Experience
Minimum of 1 years experience as a commis chef
Previous experience within a bakery (Preferred)
Previous experience in a kitchen environment is preferred, with a focus on food preparation and baking.
Familiarity with food safety standards and best practices is essential.
Experience in team management or supervising roles is advantageous.
A background in hospitality or restaurant settings will be beneficial for this position.
