ABOUT THE ROLE:

As our Community Director, you will be responsible for helping to drive ELLE\'s membership effort from the editorial side, creating compelling editorial moments that engage readers and subscribers across print, digital and events and integrating membership planning into its editorial flow. You will be executing strategies that enhance community engagement across ELLE\'s membership programme, facilitate meaningful interactions, and cultivate a loyal and active community base.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define community goals, target audience segments, and key performance indicators to measure success.
  • Work alongside section editors to use ELLE\'s journalistic output to build loyalty.
  • Identify compelling and creative editorial approaches across ELLE\'s key content areas to keep members interested.
  • To work alongside team to create, commission and/or write compelling journalistic editorials, projects and events to connect with readers.
  • Commission or create articles and multimedia content that drive discussions, inspire participation, and showcase community members\' achievements.
  • To bridge the editorial team with its readers.
  • Oversee and write ELLE\'s newsletters.
  • Identify and implement initiatives to build and grow the community. Develop and execute outreach programs, events, and collaborations to attract new members and expand the community\'s reach.
  • Monitor community engagement metrics, track member feedback, and analyse data to gain insights into community dynamics. Use data-driven insights to optimize community strategies, identify trends, and measure the impact of community initiatives.
  • Identify and develop partnerships with relevant organisations, influencers, and brands to enhance community offerings, access exclusive opportunities, and increase community exposure.
  • Interact with members digitally or at events.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, to align community initiatives with broader organisational goals. Provide insights and feedback from the community to inform decision-making and improve the overall member experience.
  • Be an ambassador of Hearst UK and its values.
  • You may be required to undertake such further duties as your skills, qualifications and experience allow and/or as may be assigned to you from time to time.
ABOUT YOU:
  • Experience in community management or community-building roles, preferably within the publishing or media industry.
  • Demonstrated success in growing and managing online communities and fostering engagement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with diverse audiences and build relationships.
  • Strong understanding of online community platforms, social media, and digital engagement tools.
  • Data-driven mindset with experience in community analytics and reporting.
  • Experience in developing and implementing community strategies, including outreach, engagement, and content creation.
  • Knowledge of community moderation best practices and the ability to handle conflicts and manage member interactions effectively.
  • Creative thinking and ability to develop innovative community initiatives and programs.
  • Passion for fostering connections, promoting inclusivity, and creating a sense of belonging within communities.
  • Familiarity with emerging trends and technologies in community management and online engagement.
