Community Fridge Volunteer & Food Club Coordinator role

The Community Fridge Volunteer and Food club co-ordinator role requires a proactive and vigilant individual with a passion for fair and connected communities and an interest in food re-distribution.
They will have project management experience, a good grasp of the local community and strong communication skills.
The Community Fridge co-ordinator is both responsible for the smooth and safe running of the fridge and ensuring that the fridge is used optimally in the local community, reaching those who need it most and receiving regular and valued contributions. The Friday Food club is about building resilience , creating a positive and sustainable way to help low-income communities access healthy food.
Core responsibilities
Co-ordinate the receiving and distribution of surplus food.
Build the support network for the fridge, including liaising with potential contributors.
User outreach and promotion to ensure relevant individuals and groups benefit from access to food in the fridge including regularly posting relevant information on social media
Run the fridge on trust within clear health and safety guidelines, adhering to cleaning schedules and monitoring advice provided in the Community Fridge 'How To Guide' and 'Safer Food Better Business for Retailers' publication from the Food Standards Agency.
Co-ordinate the staff/ volunteer rota to ensure that there is always someone available to manage the fridge.
Train new staff members as required.
Oversee the measurement and evaluation of the Community Fridge. Compile data to determine social, environmental and financial impacts of the fridge, returning the paperwork to necessary bodies in a timely manner.
Contribute to the development of the fridge, using your experience of its early use to improve its service.
Liaise with The Kintsugi Project to ensure that the fridge is run to budget.
Participate in the wider Community Fridge Network and the Plymouth Food Access Network.This could include collaborating of funding applications and PR.
Share successes to inform the development of Community Fridges in other areas.
Scope out additional funding opportunities and opportunities for revenue from the Community Fridge and affiliated activities.
Ensure the smooth running of Friday Food Club (Fridays 1.30-4.30pm)
Qualifications
Previous supervising experience is highly desirable
Strong project management skills with the ability to multitask effectively
Demonstrated leadership capabilities in team settings
Experience in marketing, particularly in social media management, is advantageous
Background in fundraising or event organisation is beneficial
Administrative experience that includes documentation and reporting tasks
Knowledge of public health principles is a plus
Teaching or training experience would be an asset
