Depot Manager

to lead our Arundel site, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient day-to-day operations.

This role requires a confident, hands-on leader with prior transport management experience, strong planning capability, and a solid understanding of UK logistics operations. The successful candidate must be a

Key Responsibilities



Operational Leadership



Lead and manage all staff throughout the depot, including the

office, warehouse, yard and transport functions

. Ensure operational performance is delivered reliably, safely and efficiently. Align depot processes with group standards, compliance frameworks and customer expectations.

Transport & Compliance



Act as a named

CPC Transport Manager

for the site. Ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation, including O-Licence requirements, drivers' hours, vehicle maintenance schedules and health & safety obligations. Oversee route conformance and driver allocations, vehicle utilisation and daily transport schedules. Liaise with DVSA, auditors and regulatory bodies as require

People Management



Manage, develop and support the staff across all functions, traffic staff, drivers, warehouse staff/yard team and administrative staff. Conduct regular performance reviews, training, coaching and recruitment as required. Foster a positive, safe and accountable working culture.

Customer Service & Communication



Maintain strong working relationships with customers, resolving queries promptly and professionally. Ensure service levels, OTIF performance and customer expectations are consistently met or exceeded. Provide clear operational updates to senior management and internal stakeholders.

Commercial & Cost Control



Contribute towards cost control across the depot key business functional areas Optimise resource utilisation (vehicles, drivers, warehouse space, consumables, overtime). Track and report key metrics including productivity, efficiency, vehicle performance and cost-to-serve. Support continuous improvement initiatives that reduce cost and improve operational performance.

Health, Safety & Site Standards



Ensure the depot remains compliant with H&S regulations, safe systems of work and company policies. Oversee incident reporting, risk assessments and audits. Maintain high standards of housekeeping across yard, warehouse and office environments.

About You - Essential Requirements



CPC Transport Manager qualification

(mandatory). Proven experience as a

Transport Manager, Depot Manager or similar roles

within UK logistics. Strong understanding of transport operations, vehicle compliance, driver management and warehouse/yard site operation. Confident leader with the ability to manage teams across multiple functions. Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills. Ability to work under pressure and manage changing operational priorities. Competent IT skills (TMS/WMS familiarity advantageous).

42,000 - 45,000
