The Deputy Manager supports the day-to-day leadership, coordination, and effective operation of the drug and alcohol treatment centre. Working closely with the Registered Manager, they ensure that high-quality, person-centred support is delivered to individuals affected by substance misuse. The role involves overseeing clinical and psychosocial services, supervising staff, ensuring compliance with regulatory and safeguarding standards, and promoting a safe, therapeutic, and recovery-focused environment. The Deputy Manager also contributes to service development, performance monitoring, risk management, and partnership working with external agencies to ensure seamless care pathways for clients. This position plays a key role in maintaining service excellence and supporting positive outcomes for clients throughout their recovery journey.
Responsibilities
Support the Registered Manager in overseeing daily operations and ensuring smooth service delivery.
Provide leadership, supervision, and line management to multidisciplinary staff teams.
Ensure all care and treatment plans are person-centred, evidence-based, and regularly reviewed.
Oversee safeguarding processes, risk assessments, and incident management to maintain client and staff safety.
Monitor service performance and ensure compliance with CQC standards, organisational policies, and statutory requirements.
Support clinical governance activities, including audits, quality assurance, and service development.
Coordinate admissions, assessments, and care pathways to ensure timely and effective intervention.
Build positive working relationships with external agencies, including healthcare providers, local authorities, and community partners.
Manage rota planning, staffing levels, and workforce development needs.
Handle client concerns, complaints, and service feedback in a professional and solution-focused manner.
Support training, coaching, and professional development of staff.
Contribute to business development, operational planning, and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications & Experience
Experience working within drug and alcohol services, mental health, supported accommodation, or similar social care settings.
Previous supervisory or team-leader experience within a care, treatment, or support environment.
Knowledge of substance misuse, detoxification processes, harm-reduction approaches, and recovery models.
Strong understanding of safeguarding (Adults & Children) and risk management procedures.
Familiarity with CQC regulations, quality standards, and clinical governance.
Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle competing priorities.
Competent in record-keeping, report writing, and using digital care systems.
