Salary:

38,000 - 45,000

Working Hours:

Hybrid (Monday-Friday, with flexibility for shifts, weekends, and sleep-ins as needed).

As we are awaiting an Ofsted to come and open the home you will be required to work a shift pattern until we open and will then recruit a Team Leader to then move you into the hybrid role.

Role Overview



As a Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in the operational and strategic leadership of the children's home. You'll ensure the delivery of trauma-informed care, lead and inspire the team, and help maintain a safe, nurturing, and high-quality environment for young people.

You will also play a key role in supporting our staff to achieve their best, providing supervision, guidance, and opportunities for personal and professional development.

Key Responsibilities



Leadership & Management



Oversee the day-to-day running of the home in the absence of the Registered Manager Lead by example, ensuring the home's ethos and trauma-informed approach are embedded in practice Participate in the on-call rota and respond effectively to incidents, emergencies, and staff absence

Staff Supervision & Development



Supervise and mentor Team Leaders and Residential Support Workers Conduct supervisions, appraisals, and performance reviews Identify training needs and coordinate development opportunities with the Registered Manager

Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance



Ensure full compliance with relevant regulations, including the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 Lead internal audits on care records, medication, and health and safety Prepare for Ofsted inspections and ensure staff are confident and well-prepared

Safeguarding & Behaviour Management



Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) Lead on behaviour support, promoting a therapeutic and consistent approach Oversee incident reports, debriefs, and ensure practice aligns with safeguarding standards

Care Planning & Child-Centred Practice



Ensure care plans, risk assessments, and placement plans are kept up-to-date Champion the child's voice in all decision-making Promote the physical, emotional, and educational development of children

Partnership Working



Build positive relationships with social workers, schools, and external professionals Lead multi-agency meetings and advocate for the rights of the young people

Health, Safety & Environment



Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations Oversee the cleanliness, maintenance, and safety of the home

Person Specification



Essential:



Minimum of 2 years' experience in residential childcare Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) Previous leadership or senior support experience Strong understanding of safeguarding, trauma-informed care, and Ofsted regulations Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills Flexibility to work varied hours, including participation in on-call rota

Desirable:



Working towards or willing to complete Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare Experience in Ofsted inspections and rota planning
