Role Overview



We are seeking an experienced Deputy Manager to join our team and play a key role in the day-to-day operations of the community centre. This is an on-site position for someone with proven leadership experience in community centre management or similar settings. You will work closely with the Centre Manager to ensure the smooth running of our facilities, develop innovative programmes, and build strong relationships with our community stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities



Programme Development & Delivery

Design, develop, and implement engaging community programmes that meet the needs of our diverse community Monitor and evaluate programme effectiveness, making improvements where necessary Coordinate with facilitators, volunteers, and external providers to deliver high-quality activities
Stakeholder & Community Relations

Build and maintain positive relationships with community members, local partners, organisations, and funding bodies Act as a key point of contact for stakeholder enquiries and communications Represent the centre at community events and networking opportunities
Operations & Facilities Coordination

Oversee and manage facility bookings, ensuring efficient use of space and resources Coordinate maintenance, health and safety compliance, and facility upkeep Ensure the centre operates in line with policies, procedures, and relevant regulations
Team Leadership & Support

Supervise staff, volunteers, and programme facilitators on a day-to-day basis Support recruitment, training, and performance management activities Step in for the Centre Manager during absences and provide senior leadership support
Administrative & Financial Duties

Maintain accurate records, reporting, and documentation Assist with budget monitoring and resource allocation Support funding applications and grant reporting as required
Essential Requirements

Previous experience in a managerial or supervisory role within a community centre or similar setting Proven ability to develop and deliver community programmes Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills Experience managing bookings, operations, and facilities Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills Knowledge of health and safety regulations Ability to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends
Desirable Requirements

Relevant qualifications in community development or management Experience working with diverse community groups Understanding of local community needs and challenges Budget management experience
