SHIO, an Asian-inspired street food restaurant at the Boathouse, Newquay Harbour, is on the lookout for a passionate chefs ranging from junior sous to sous level to join our team as soon as possible with full time hours until we close our doors for winter at the end of October!

Wage will depend on level of experience and ability to perform the duties required of your job title. To be discussed upon interview.

As we gear up for summer, we need a dedicated Sous Chef who thrives in a high-paced environment. Our doors are open seven days a week from 12 PM to 9 PM, and while we know things can get hectic, we believe in keeping spirits high and having fun along the way.

We're looking for someone who has a good sense of humor and knows when to switch to concentration mode. If you're an experienced chef and can handle a busy service while still sharing a laugh with the team, you might just be the perfect fit for us.

While we're ideally seeking a Sous Chef, we're also open to considering junior sous chefs or CDPs with a strong desire to step up. If you're the right candidate, we're ready to help you elevate your career to the next level.

The boathouse is a busy and thriving environment so would be suited to someone who is full of life and energy.

Responsibilities



Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards. Ensure food safety and sanitation practices are strictly followed in the kitchen. Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to enhance culinary skills. Manage food production processes to maintain quality and efficiency. Collaborate with team members to create a positive dining experience for guests. Maintain inventory and assist in ordering supplies as needed.

Qualifications



Proven experience in food preparation and cooking techniques Strong culinary experience with a focus on food safety Demonstrated leadership skills in a kitchen environment Previous supervisory experience in the kitchen Background in hospitality and restaurants Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 13.00-15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 - 45 per week
