We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to oversee our financial operations and ensure the integrity of our financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in financial management and accounting, with proficiency in various accounting software including QuickBooks. This role is pivotal in guiding our financial strategy and ensuring compliance with regulations while providing insightful analysis to support business decisions.
The role involves a wide range of financial operations, including accounting-related activities, management of financial reporting systems, and oversight of payroll. The Financial Controller is responsible for running the accounting function and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's books and records.
Responsibilities
Financial planning and forecasting.
Lead business unit forecasting, budgeting and cash flow management.
Prepare and present monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and board reports.
Business unit forecasting and reporting, to include:

Project-specific cash flows, ensuring costs are correctly allocated against each project.
Completion of quarterly audit submissions.
Tracking and invoicing of Commercial R&D income.
PBT reporting and forecasting versus the 5-year plan.
HarvestEye Ltd
Financial management of stock (including monthly stock takes).
Margin analysis by geographical region.
PBT reporting and forecasting versus the 5-year plan.
RootExtracts Ltd
Purchase and sale of protein from each product partner.
Margin analysis by geographical region.
PBT reporting and forecasting versus the 5-year plan.
Completion of month/year end activities for all the 3 companies, to include:
General ledger account postings (accruals, prepayments).
Stock management.
Balance sheet reconciliations.
24-month rolling cash flow.
Prepare and present monthly management accounts, variance analysis and board reports for presentation to senior team.
Statutory duties to include the preparation and filing of year-end statutory accounts, completion of tax returns, and filing of confirmation statements.
Provide operational finance support to senior leaders and stakeholders across the three companies, delivering financial insights to aid continuous improvement initiatives and support effective control of internal costs at each site.
Lead and support the annual budget process, working closely with General Managers and senior management to ensure budgets align with management expectations, and providing clear narrative on key assumptions to add context to the detailed budget packs presented to the business.
Review weekly payments for approval by the Directors.
Oversee the day-to-day financial operations from a high level. This includes ensuring the performance of processes for vendor set-up, invoice processing, payroll, record-keeping, and purchasing functions.
Ensure that financial processes are executed properly. That is, external reporting or filing deadlines are met and that changes imposed by external regulatory agencies are made. This may be related to tax statement distributions or audited external financial statements.
General responsibilities include full compliance with all Agritech Health, Safety, and Hygiene regulations at all times. The individual will be expected to carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by their manager and perform all responsibilities efficiently, with a focus on the effective use of time and resources. They will be responsible for their own personal development, with training provided where specific needs are identified. The role includes the management and development of one direct report (Finance Assistant) and collaboration with other departments to ensure alignment and delivery of financial goals.

Experience
Professional financial qualification.
Payroll experience.
Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role within a dynamic environment.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, particularly in relation to accounts payable.
Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
Strong organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
