Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Floor Layer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in flooring installation, including the ability to read and interpret schematics. This role involves working with various materials and tools to create durable and aesthetically pleasing floor surfaces in residential and commercial settings.

Responsibilities

Install a variety of flooring materials, including carpet, vinyl, laminate, lvt, safety flooring (including wet rooms, cap & cove, welding) and hardwood flooring. Read and interpret schematics to ensure accurate measurements and layouts. Prepare subfloors by cleaning, levelling, and repairing as necessary. Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively during installation processes. Collaborate with carpenters and other tradespeople to ensure seamless project execution. Conduct final inspections of completed work to ensure quality standards are met. Maintain a clean and organised work environment throughout the duration of projects. Willing to work with any assigned trainee to build skills within the business.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Floor Layer or in a similar role within the construction industry. Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools relevant to flooring installation. Ability to read schematics and build according to specifications. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. A background in painting or additional carpentry skills would be advantageous.
