Here at Hitachi Rail, we have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced

Global Travel and Expense Lead

to join our Global HR Shared Service team. As the

Global Travel and Expense Lead

you will hold responsibility for establishing operational plans in accordance with the business strategy and developing and implementing new processes and operations that will have impact on the achievement of functional results.


This is a great time to join our company as we have recently gone through a large acquisition and we're in the middle of integrating and harmonizing operations, therefore there's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to harmonizing the operations in travel and expense area to contribute to the business.


This position requires strong communication skills as you will be working with multiple stakeholders across various regions internationally, alongside influencing and supporting your colleagues within the Travel & Expense team. Flexibility to work outside of normal office hours may sometimes be required in this role due to time zone differences and the ability and willingness to travel internationally (on occasion) is essential.


Some core responsibilities will include:


Travel:

Develop, modify, validate and execute the global travel policy and communicate to employees. Validate local travel policies for alignment. Drive process improvements to increase program efficiency and cost effectiveness. Ensure the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of travel data. Implement an audit and control framework to monitor the 's travel policy for compliance. In collaboration with Procurement, manage travel vendor relationships and programs ensuring compliance to service level agreements.
Expense

Implement a global expense tool in collaboration with Global and Local stakeholders (HR, Finance, IT and Procurement) and vendors

About you



Prior experience working within a Travel & Expense role would be strongly advantageous but not essential Experience of working in a global, matrixed organisation would be beneficial The ability to think critically & laterally Hold strong analytical skills, and open to new technologies such as Gen AI Be able to work well independently Hold strong communication skills i.e. the ability to have constructive discussions, be able to resolve conflict and influence across different levels. Excellence in data management/ Excel/ Power-Point Prior experience of Project management & Change management Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent, experience in HR, Corporate Affairs or Travel-related position (desirable)
