Groundworks Quantity Surveyor

Hutchings Groundworks is a family run business based in Newton Abbot but working throughout the Southwest of England. We are seeking a Groundworks Quantity Surveyor to join our friendly team.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and tender documents for construction projects. Manage project costs throughout all stages--from feasibility to completion. Assess and negotiate supplier and subcontractor quotations and contracts, including procurement. Strong knowledge of contract administration. Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and ensure cost efficiency. Prepare progress reports, valuations, and final accounts. Support project managers in ensuring financial success and client satisfaction. Managing tender enquiries. Maintaining an up-to-date database of rates, suppliers, and project cost information.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor specific to the groundworks and civils sector. Strong understanding of cost control principles and practices. Excellent analytical, negotiation and communication skills with attention to detail. Effective communication skills. Competent user of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Bluebeam or similar estimating software. Ability to work under pressure and meet tender deadlines. Interpersonal skills and ability to work within a small office-based team. Full UK driving licence.

Benefits

Salary ranging from 45,000-60,000 depending on experience. Company pension. Working in a family run business.
