We are now recruiting for a HR Advisor to join our Human Resources team, in a FTC capacity, working full-time at our Swindon offices located on key transport links in the town centre.

About the Role:



We are looking for a confident and collaborative HR Advisor keen to make a positive impact during an exciting time of transformation for our organisation.

Reporting to the HR Manager, you will use your strong generalist skills and all round experience across the employee lifecycle to deliver HR best practice. You will be able to demonstrate a confident and pragmatic approach to caseload management and supporting manager capability across the organisation.

This is a great opportunity if you enjoy building relationships and working in a busy, close knit team. You'll advise on Employee Relations, wellbeing and resilience, support change processes, keep our HR processes and policies compliant and deliver occasional briefings and training sessions. You will also assist the HR Manager in mentoring and developing our aspiring HR Assistant.

Key Responsibilities:



Acting as the first line of contact for managers and employees, providing appropriate advice and guidance on all employee relations matters; managing expectations accordingly;

Coach and upskill managers, supporting their ability to develop pragmatic solutions and actions, making sound assessment of associated risks and managing risk accordingly, providing actions for mitigation where necessary;

Ensure all departmental policies, procedures and documentation are fit for purpose, in line with best practice and legislation and meet the wider needs of the organisation;

Coach the level of capability within the business to manage ER cases, supporting the continuing development of people management skills and capability within the business, which may include training and briefings on policies and guidelines;

Responsible for ensuring a high standard of HR administration and process is maintained throughout the team, leading by example and providing coaching and guidance where necessary;

Responsible for ensuring contractual documentation, offer paperwork and HR communication is drafted in an accurate and timely manner, taking care to ensure content is in line with legislative requirements and best practice;

Own or participate in HR projects and contribute to functional and cross-functional initiatives;

Work with the business to define and roll-out guidelines, toolkits and procedures, where required. Develop and maintain a sound commercial understanding of the business and how HR can support a high performing and learning business culture;

Identify new opportunities for HR to add value to the business, recommendations for improvement where necessary;

Support and coach other members of the HR team, therefore increasing the knowledge and capability of the team to deal with first-line HR queries;

Proactively seek opportunities for CPD, linking with external peer networks, external forums and conferences to keep HR knowledge relevant and up to date and make recommendations for change;

Budgetary sign off for up to 5,000, but responsible for tracking the budget against the provision of Occupational Health services;

Flexibility is required of all job holders to adjust responsibilities as required from time to time by their Line Manager/Divisional Director.

Who we are looking for:



Education and qualifications



CIPD qualified/part qualified or equivalent experience

Degree educated or equivalent Demonstrable generalist HR advisory experience in in a people focussed organisation

Demonstrable experience of working in an operational HR role within an SME environment

Demonstrable experience of embedding core HR policy, process and procedure

Experience of supporting cultural/organisational change would be advantageous

Knowledge:



Strong knowledge and understanding of UK employment law and it's practical application with policies and procedures

Strong awareness and understanding of data protection regulations

Knowledge of the IT/charity/training and development sector would be advantageous

Some knowledge of H&S legislation would be advantageous

Special Conditions:



Very occasional visits to other BCS offices and attendance at external professional meetings.

Able to work occasional unsociable hours.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: 35,000.00-39,000.00 per year
