Job Description

FERCELL is seeking a Junior / Improver Sheet Metal & Fabrication Operative to join our workshop team. This role is ideal for someone at the early stages of their fabrication or engineering career who is keen to learn, develop practical skills, and gain experience across a wide range of metalworking processes.

You'll work alongside experienced engineers and fabricators, contributing to the manufacture of bespoke industrial ventilation and recycling equipment supplied to leading UK businesses.

Key Responsibilities

- Assisting with cutting, folding, forming, and assembling sheet metal components,

- Supporting the setup and operation of press brakes and guillotines,

- Carrying out basic MIG welding (training and supervision provided),

- Using hand and power tools safely and effectively,

- Helping with general workshop tasks including preparation, finishing, and assembly,

- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised working environment, and

- Willingness to support other areas of the business as required.

Skills & Experience

Essential

- Some experience or training in engineering, fabrication, or metalwork (college, apprenticeship, or workplace),

- A genuine interest in manufacturing and hands-on engineering

- Good attention to detail and a willingness to learn, and

- A positive, reliable attitude with a strong work ethic.

Desirable (but not essential)

Basic experience with:

- Press brakes,

- Guillotines,

- MIG welding,

- Metalworking power tools, and

- Ability to read or understand basic engineering drawings.
