We are looking for someone to join our friendly team to deliver excellent customer service to our library customers and visitors, ensuring all information, services and resources are available and promoted to members of the public.
We are looking for someone to provide information, support, advice and assistance to customers and potential customers being the first point of contact for members of the public and all other visitors to the library.
You must be organised, able to plan ahead, be adept at managing demanding deadlines under pressure and have strong word processing and attention to detail skills. A good team player who can use their own initiative and innovation to help us improve our systems and processes and the confidence and ability to plan and deliver events to promote both the library and wider Active Luton offer would be an asset.
Duties will include:
- Engaging and communicating with customers, assisting them in a wide range of daily library tasks such as registration, answering queries, floor walking and supporting them to use the digital services.
- Supporting the delivery of a wide range of activities and events for both children and adults.
- Carrying out administrative tasks and routine stock work associated with the library such as inputting, adding, amending and deleting data to maintain accurate records and monitoring, auditing, electronic receipting of new stock, sorting, shelving and general tidying.
- Operation of cash registers/computerised management system/ email, using windows based packages.
- Undertake duties relating to cash floats and monies received maintaining accurate records of such transactions, security and audit trails from all areas of library business.
The apprenticeship has a duration of 18 months and on successful completion could potentially lead to a contractual position.

Qualifications required;
- Functional skills Level 1, GCSE grades D/3 or above in English and Maths.
