Operating two 8-bed homes in Eastbourne, caring for
young people aged 14-18
with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), many of whom are
unaccompanied asylum seekers
. This is a
specialist service
with a commitment to high standards, despite the current Ofsted rating of Requires Improvement. Actively investing in strong leadership to take the home to the next level.
The Role
We are seeking a confident and committed
Step-Up Registered Manager
to help lead and inspire our team across
two homes
. The successful candidate will work closely with Deputy Managers (Heads of YP Support) to ensure that therapeutic care, safeguarding, and emotional development remain central to the support we provide.
This is an ideal role for a
strong Deputy Manager
or Team Leader with significant experience who is ready to
step into a Registered Manager position
and make a meaningful impact.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day operations across
two 8-bed homes
supporting up to 15 young people
Lead on safeguarding, care planning, and team supervision in line with
Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015
Support a therapeutic and trauma-informed environment for asylum-seeking and EBD-affected young people
Work collaboratively with Deputy Managers, social workers, and external professionals
Develop rotas and staffing schedules, ensuring appropriate team coverage
Drive continuous improvement in line with Ofsted action plans and feedback
Promote a nurturing, structured and culturally sensitive care approach
What We're Looking For
Minimum
2 years' experience
supporting young people with asylum-seeking backgrounds and complex emotional needs
Level 3 Diploma
in Residential Childcare - essential*
Level 5 Diploma
in Leadership & Management - preferredor willingness to complete
Experience managing challenging behaviour in residential settings
Strong understanding of
safeguarding, trauma-informed practice
, and relevant legislation
Confident in leadership, rota management, and professional development of staff
Able to work flexibly, including
shared on-call responsibilities
Passionate about promoting
