Play on Wheels (POW)
is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund. We deliver a mobile play-based programme of activities in identified areas of Fife to help parents of young children to increase their confidence in supporting their child's wellbeing and developmental needs in their early years.
Play Support Worker
Location: Outreach
- travel throughout Fife
Hours: 21 hours per week
(3 fixed days per week. Some evening or weekend work may be required from time to time).
Are you passionate about making a positive impact on families in Fife and understand the importance of parent and child relationships? Are you creative and enjoy creating play sessions that support early child development? Then this may be the job for you.
Working alongside our Play Development Lead, you will travel to locations across Fife to deliver bespoke play sessions to groups of parents with young children. You will inspire and support parents and carers to interact with their babies and little ones through fun, simple and inexpensive activities, giving parents new ideas to support their child's development and build language rich environments at home through play.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential criteria
Experience working with children under 5 years old and their families.
Understanding of the value of play and early child development.
Able to communicate effectively.
Friendly and approachable.
Able to work in a team or independently.
Confident and a level of creativeness.
Understanding of the importance of monitoring and evaluation.
UK diving licence and access to own vehicle
Highly advantageous criteria
A play work (or equivalent) qualification.
Understanding of play methods to support the development of early speech, language and communication in young children.
Experience of supporting the delivery of group sessions for parents and their young children
Understanding of monitoring and evaluation techniques.
A good understanding of support available for families in Fife.
Flexibility about working hours.
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILIITES
Supporting the delivery of play sessions for parents with children aged 0-5.
Supporting the delivery of play training / workshops for practitioners and community groups.
Planning and preparation of sessions and resources
Encouraging families to share feedback and assist with recording of data required for reporting.
Maintaining and replenishing the play vehicle and resources.
Contributing to reports and team meetings as required.
Supporting the Play Development Lead in any other capacity.
