Pre School Room Teacher

Core Purpose



To lead the preschool room with care and confidence, ensuring children receive high-quality early years education and care, delivered in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). The Pre School Room Teacher fosters a safe, stimulating, and joyful environment for children to learn and grow, while also guiding and supporting their team.



Key Responsibilities1. Leadership & Team Management



Lead, motivate, and support the preschool team to deliver outstanding care and learning.

Delegate responsibilities clearly and fairly, ensuring smooth daily routines.

Model positive behaviour, professionalism, and reflective practice.

Address issues promptly and constructively, escalating to leadership where appropriate.


2. Learning & Development (EYFS)



Plan, deliver, and review high-quality learning experiences tailored to each child, following the EYFS.

Carry out observations and assessments, tracking children's progress and planning meaningful next steps.

Support and mentor key persons to maintain accurate and effective learning journals.

Champion school readiness skills, encouraging independence, curiosity, and resilience in children.


3. Provision & Environment



Ensure the preschool room is consistently safe, clean, and engaging.

Design inspiring invitations to play and age-appropriate provocations that support learning across all EYFS areas.

Monitor and rotate resources, ensuring equipment is risk-assessed and well maintained.

Embed routines that promote children's independence and confidence (e.g., self-serving snacks, tidy-up time).


4. Partnership with Parents & Carers



Build warm, trusting relationships with families, acting as the main point of contact in the preschool room.

Provide daily handovers that are friendly, professional, and informative.

Keep parents updated on progress, achievements, and any concerns, ensuring clear communication.

Work in partnership with parents to support children's development both at nursery and at home.


5. Team Engagement & Wellbeing



Welcome and include all staff, fostering a supportive, respectful culture.

Provide encouragement, recognition, and constructive feedback daily.

Encourage professional development and reflective practice within the team.

Lead by example, creating a positive, fun, and caring working atmosphere.


Success Measures (Scorecard)



High compliance and audit scores (safeguarding, health & safety, room audits).

Positive parent/carer feedback and engagement.

High-quality observations, planning, and assessments.

Good staff attendance, punctuality, and teamwork.

Evident links between planned activities and children's next steps.

Action points from audits addressed promptly and effectively.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 35,000.00 per year
