SEN Teaching Assistant

to join their team. This role is ideal for someone with strong skills in

Makaton

and

PECS

, who is passionate about helping children with special educational needs thrive in a structured and caring learning environment.

The Role

You will support children with

Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)

and other communication needs on a one-to-one basis and in small groups. The focus will be on developing functional communication, emotional regulation, and engagement with learning. You'll work closely with teachers, the SENCO, and other professionals to ensure that every child receives the support they need to succeed.

Key Duties

Deliver targeted support using Makaton and PECS communication systems. Implement and adapt learning activities to match individual education plans (IEPs). Assist in tracking progress and preparing reports for reviews and meetings. Promote independence, confidence, and positive behaviour. Create a calm and inclusive classroom environment.
Ideal Candidate

Experience as a Teaching Assistant in a primary or SEN setting. Confident in using Makaton and PECS in practical classroom contexts. Patient, adaptable, and motivated to support diverse learning needs. Good organisational skills and the ability to follow structured plans. An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply.
