PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The BBC Studios Natural History Unit are looking for experienced Production Coordinators with extensive international filming experience to support landmark natural history productions, including the follow up to The Green Planet, exploring the extraordinary and complex relationships between plants and animals as well as an exciting blue chip landmark series for a 3rd party broadcaster.
This role will play a key part in setting up and delivering complex UK and overseas shoots during an intensive filming period, working closely with Production Managers and editorial teams to ensure productions are delivered safely, on schedule and within budget.
Candidates must demonstrate proven expertise in coordinating complex international shoots, be confident in securing locations and permits, negotiating competitive rates, raising contracts and have experience working and managing budgets.
We would be interested to hear from anyone who has previous landmark experience and/or extensive foreign filming experience and complex shoots.
MAIN RESPOSIBILITIES
You will report to the Production Manager and provide logistical and financial support to the production team.
Responsible for managing an episode filming budget with support from the PM
Manage all logistical aspects of UK and foreign shoots for one episode and assisting other episodes as and when needed
Work in close partnership with the editorial team to deliver outstanding, distinctive natural history content, ensuring delivery on schedule, within budget and within operational constraints.
ARE YOU THE RIGHT CANDIDATE?
You will bring:
Demonstrable experience as a Production Coordinator, ideally on landmark natural history or large-scale factual productions
Extensive international and foreign filming experience, including complex logistics
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing demands in fast-moving environments
Solid financial skills, with experience working with filming budgets, forecasting and cost tracking
Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements, including experience supporting high-risk shoots
Familiarity with copyright, archive and end-to-end multi-platform production workflows
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams
Experience working on third-party or co-productions is desirable but not essential
