The Light Lab are a leading manufacturer of bespoke architectural lighting products and installations. Having spent the past two decades, bringing together their combined experience in the application of light, new lighting technology and project management, they have delivered many high-end architectural lighting installations across landmark buildings. They have a strong national and increasingly international presence.

The Light Lab are a tight knit, sociable team, with a high importance placed on staff welfare and team social activities.

The growing team are currently looking for a hard-working, organised & self-motivated individual to join the team as a Production Workshop Administration, reporting directly to the Head of Production. This hands-on role covers a wide variety of tasks, from workshop organisation to logistics, placing purchase orders and matching invoices and expenses, ensuring project administration runs smoothly from build to installation.

The role is full time in our workshop in Elephant & Castle - with some occasional days in the Shoreditch office.

Key Responsibilities



Workshop & Inventory Management Be the first point of contact for the workshop and ensuring this is kept in a clean, tidy working environment. Manage the workshop - day-to-day tasks, including placing orders for tools, parts, and consumables. Maintain an organised and efficient workshop environment -- tidying, stock-taking, and packaging as required. Manage stock cataloguing, inventory control, and ensure accurate records of all materials and equipment.

Project support



Managing all purchase orders for projects - so experience with accounts software such as Xero, advantageous Placing orders to key suppliers for all project and stock requirements.

Production Support



Assist with project preparation and basic manufacturing tasks, ensuring deadlines are met. Provide hands-on support with assembly and production tasks as directed - experience of working with workshop hand tools beneficial

Team & Operations Support



Arrange hotels, travel, and transport for members of the production team. Reconcile company expenses, credit cards, and petty cash in coordination with finance. Assist operations manager with purchase invoice matching.

Logistics & Shipping



Book and coordinate couriers for UK shipments going out from the warehouse, and assisting the office team with international shipments, preparing required shipping documents including Packing lists etc. Oversee deliveries and collections, ensuring materials and products arrive on time and in good condition. Prepare and pack project site installation materials, ensuring accuracy and care in handling.

What we are looking for:



Highly organised, reliable, and proactive, with a helpful and positive approach Able to take ownership of the role, support multiple teams, and keen to learn and progress At least 1 year's experience in a similar role (e.g. Administrator or Office Manager in a workshop or project-based environment) Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills Good technical understanding, with the ability to interpret CAD drawings Basic CAD skills and/or freehand sketching ability advantageous An understanding of materials, assembly processes, and lighting technology beneficial Strong Microsoft Excel and IT skills, with the ability to learn new systems quickly Experience of working with workshop hand tools, benficial. A team player who can work independently and contribute to a growing, independent company
Start date is flexible depending on candidate availability, but ideally we would like the role to be filled as soon as possible.

Pay: 30,000.00-32,000.00 per year
