Job Description

6 Month contract 40,000-45,000 per year for a 3 day week, All terms negotiable.

We are seeking an experienced Property Consultant to lead critical preparatory work for upcoming refurbishment and construction phases across Dartmouth House and the Mews. This 6-month, part-time role is ideal for a senior property professional with experience in leases, planning consents, heritage buildings, and pre-construction strategy.

You will ensure that the ESU is fully protected and ready to enter the construction phase, working closely with our CEO, COO, legal advisers, surveyors, and external consultants.

Key Responsibilities



Lead the negotiation of detailed Heads of Terms with a tenant, protecting the ESU's interests. Work with lawyers and surveyors to shape, review, and finalise three new leases and associated documents. Define landlord and tenant scope of works, responsibilities, sequencing, and implementation. Establish and coordinate a project team to progress planning, listed building consents, and pre-construction requirements. Oversee engagement with Westminster City Council, heritage officers, and statutory bodies to secure necessary approvals. Commission and oversee surveys, heritage assessments, conservation advice, and pre-construction information. Provide clear reports and advice to senior leaders and Trustees on risks, costs, timelines, and options. Develop a procurement strategy for contractors and consultants, ensuring readiness for tender. Ensure clarity regarding chattels, artwork, and historic interiors, including their handling and reinstatement. Ensure the organisation is fully prepared to enter the construction phase with all consents, documentation, designs, and budgets in place.

About You


You will bring senior-level property expertise and confidence to a complex heritage project. Ideally, you will have:

Experience in landlord and tenant negotiations. Experience working with

heritage or listed buildings

, including planning, conservation constraints and engagement with relevant authorities (ideally Westminster City Council). Experience delivering pre-construction and capital project preparation. Ability to work effectively with legal advisers, surveyors, architects, and conservation specialists. Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills. Strong organisational skills and a proactive approach.

RICS-qualified

(MRICS or FRICS), ideally in Commercial Property, Building Surveying or Planning and Development
