Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Children's Manager to oversee and coordinate the care of children in our facility. Responsibilities:



Working directly with children, including overseeing key-works and active involvement in providing care and support.

Working in partnership with children, their social worker and carers and other relevant agencies.

To co-ordinate, monitor and review Care Plans for all allocated children and young people.

Successfully register with Ofsted and ensure compliance with all regulations and standards.

Promote the culture of high-quality care delivery and outcomes for young people.

Develop staff team's understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.

Taking responsibility for the upkeep of the establishment with regard to health and safety and primary care issues, as well as making autonomous decisions about individual young people's requests and behaviour.

To lead and coordinate the development, implementation and delivery of the service user's Care Plan across the integrated services; communicating and setting goals, supporting practice development and ensuring progress is monitored effectively.

To communicate effectively with others about a service user's needs as identified in the Care Plan to other professionals, leading the care process where relevant.

To manage resources effectively to enable staff teams to meet all the physical needs of the service users.

To actively monitor all aspects of service delivery for quality, standards and effectiveness using regulatory reporting mechanisms to do so.

To monitor actively that all recording, monitoring and reporting systems are utilised correctly and to the highest standard.

To organise duty rotas, assist in the management, appraisal, supervision and support of all staff.

Provide regular feedback, support and direction to staff teams to ensure that the required quality and standard of service delivery is being met.

To participate and contribute to the objectives of the wider organisation, via safe recruitment, and development projects

In conjunction with our property partners, oversee the cleanliness, maintenance and repairs of the properties.

Managing the residential home on a day-day basis, ensuring it is compliant in meeting all relevant legislative and contractual requirements, including the health and educational needs of young people.

To protect children and young people from threats to their health, welfare and normal development, both from inside and outside the home.

Building and creating mutual trust and respect with young people in order that they react appropriately to information and advice.

To ensure the home has an up-to-date Statement of purpose.

To ensure that the home environment is appropriate and sensitive to the needs of the children being looked after.

To ensure that children and young people (including post 18 year olds) facing particular crises and stresses are offered appropriate additional support, and to ensure that staff are supported in dealing with the most complex cases.

To manage first aid, minor illness treatment and administration of medication procedures effectively, ensuring young people's health and routines are supported in a safe and sympathetic environment.

To develop environmental, individual and group risk assessments to ensure we are able to offer a service to children with a diverse range of needs.

Ensure good working relationships are developed and maintained with: parents and other family members; social workers; partner agencies other agencies and professionals who contribute to meeting the assessed needs of the young person.

To be involved in managing and investigating disciplinary issues and grievances as necessary.

Coaching supporting and developing staff, including supervision to maximise their performance and ensure high standards of care, values, standards, equality and diversity, policies and procedures, legislation and inspection framework.

Communication



Ensure good communication between families and professionals, that any concerns or allegations are passed on appropriately and in a timely manner with thorough documentation and investigation.

Have good communication skills, both verbally and written.

Reports are completed and actioned where appropriate, including Ofsted documentation and the home audits.

Ensure that staff meetings and children's meetings are taking place and are an opportunity for voices to be heard and opinions to be shared.

Training and Development



Attend training that is relevant to the role and explore opportunities for personal development.

Skills and Qualifications



Level 5 qualification in leadership and management in residential childcare.

Knowledge of psychological child development and the impact disabilities and trauma can have on the child's development.

A detailed knowledge of childcare legislation, SCIFF, Children's homes Regulation 2015 reports regarding residential care for children and current practice issues.

Person Specification:



. Detailed understanding of Children's Act 1989, Care Standards Act 2000, Children's Homes (England), Regulations 2015.

. Hold a relevant management qualification and other qualifications as required by Ofsted regulations

Have a thorough knowledge of relevant legislation and Ofsted regulation

Currently subscribed to DBS Update service

(Essential)

Have a background working in Children's Homes

Currently as RM or as a deputy or previously held a registration with Ofsted as a RM (Essential)

Able to provide responsive referees (Essential)


Able to support, manage and develop staff

Good organisational skills and a high standard of written work Able to communicate effectively and promote effective relationships with a range of professionals and young people. Able to work independently and as part of a team

Salary: 50,000-65,000 per annum depending on experience - Potential to rise to 70,000 after 1-year.
