The Rump and Wade British Bar and Brasserie is part of the Hotel Cromwell, Stevenage. The stunning brasserie is busy for all day drinking, dining and coffee attracting residents, locals and visitors to the area. We are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic and driven restaurant supervisor to join the team.
We are looking for someone passionate and excited about great food, drink and customer service. You should have some previous experience, preferably at a supervisory level, in a large restaurant or bar.

The restaurant supervisor role
Ensure that you always lead your team by example, whether you are running a section as an order taker or running the shift in the absence of a manager.
If running a shift, always look at the complete picture, know what everyone is doing and what is going on in each area you are responsible for as well as doing your own jobs
Communicate constantly and consistently with your team
Work as part of a complete team regardless of position or job role, and encourage everyone else to do the same
Have the ability to notice if a team member needs help and giving support whenever they need you.
Use your experience to help new team members settle in and learn.
Always give a genuine, warm and friendly welcome, making a real impression every time the guest arrives, ensuring they are put at ease and feel looked after.
Talk to every guest, ask the right questions to understand your guest's needs.
Treat each guest as an individual and use your menu knowledge to tailor the perfect dining experience for them.
Suggest the right extras, starters, second drinks, sides, desserts and coffee.
Always look to turn a good time into the best time for every guest no matter the occasion. Anticipate your guest's needs and always be one step ahead.
Ensure that, when you are running the shift that you deal with any issues the guest may have in a timely and professional manner. Nothing should ever be too much trouble and any issues should be rectified immediately.
Be well organised, attentive, focused and detailed, getting orders spot on every time if you are taking them or ensuring each member of the team has a defined role that it within their skill set if you are managing the shift
Ensure your level of service is consistent and yet be able to adapt and change pace with the restaurant needs.
If managing the shift ensure all your team know their exact job roles and who is where, complete a pre-shift brief and checks with the kitchen well before the start of the shift
Be prepared! Ensure all pre-shift tasks are complete before the busy times start and that you and the team are ready to be busy every day
Use guest feedback to improve what we do. Enjoy and celebrate our wins and identify areas of opportunity to improve.
Ensure our restaurant is looking its best and amazing at all times during your shift.
Ensure the comfort, safety and wellbeing of our guest is always maintained above expectation. Remember you are responsible for the guests whilst they are dining within the restaurant and work within health and safety guidelines
Ensure all transactions are carried out correctly and accurately and follow company standards for cash handling. The shifts will be 5 days in 7 and include evenings and weekends which are our busiest times. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants a career in hospitality as there are many training and development opportunities within the company (including funded qualifications for the right candidates).
