Key Responsibilities of a SEND Teaching Assistant
Deliver
1:1 support
and small group learning for pupils with a variety of SEND.
Collaborate with teachers,
SENCOs
, and external professionals to implement personalised learning and
EHC plans
.
Adapt resources and activities to promote inclusive learning environments.
Encourage positive behaviour and emotional well-being through tailored interventions.
Contribute to wider school life, enrichment activities, and staff collaboration.
What We're Looking For
Qualifications:
Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or SEND-related training (desirable, not essential).
Experience:
Previous work as a
Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant (LSA), SEN Teaching Assistant
, or in childcare/education support.
Skills:
Strong communication, patience, empathy, and adaptability.
Knowledge:
Familiarity with
PECS, Makaton, sensory/behavioural strategies
(beneficial but not required).
