Location:

Remote, with regular travel across the South (including Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire, and surrounding areas)

Salary:

50,000 - 65,000 per annum (including performance bonus)

Contract:

Full-time, Permanent

Schedule:

Monday to Friday

We are seeking a highly skilled

Social Care Consultant

to provide strategic guidance, oversight, and leadership across children's residential homes in the South East.

This senior role is perfect for professionals with deep expertise in residential childcare who are passionate about raising standards, embedding safeguarding, and supporting Registered Managers to deliver exceptional, child-centred care. Acting as a trusted advisor, you will influence best practice, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement across services.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure homes meet and exceed Ofsted regulations, Children's Homes Regulations 2015, and Quality Standards. Provide expert guidance, coaching, and mentoring to Registered Managers. Lead on safeguarding, embedding safe, transparent, and accountable practice across all services. Support homes through Ofsted inspections with the aim of achieving 'Good' or 'Outstanding'. Advise on operational effectiveness, including staffing, budgets, and resource allocation. Build strong relationships with local authorities, social workers, and regulatory bodies. Drive staff training, professional development, and performance improvement initiatives. Foster a culture of reflection, accountability, and continuous learning.
About You

At least 3 years' senior leadership or consultancy experience in children's residential care. NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent/working towards). In-depth knowledge of safeguarding legislation, Ofsted frameworks, and compliance requirements. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proven success in influencing practice and improving outcomes for children. Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel across the South East. Passionate about ensuring children and young people receive the very best care.
