We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in culinary arts, particularly in Japanese cuisine, and possess the ability to create high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for food preparation, ensuring food safety, and delivering an exceptional dining experience for our guests.
Duties
Prepare and present a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, and rolls, with attention to detail and presentation.
Ensure all ingredients are fresh and of high quality, adhering to food safety regulations.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including proper storage of ingredients and equipment.
Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal preparation and service during peak hours.
Assist in menu development by providing creative input on new sushi offerings and seasonal specials.
Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs to management for timely replenishment.
Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and food safety practices.
Experience
Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role within a restaurant environment is essential.
Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety standards, and kitchen operations.
Familiarity with various types of sushi rice, fish, vegetables, and other ingredients used in sushi preparation.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality.
Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively with kitchen staff and front-of-house personnel.
A passion for Japanese cuisine and a commitment to continuous learning within the culinary field.
