Overview

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and a deep appreciation for Japanese cuisine. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that delight our customers while adhering to strict food safety standards. This role requires creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Duties

Prepare and present sushi dishes according to traditional Japanese techniques and recipes. Ensure all ingredients are fresh and of the highest quality for meal preparation. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including proper storage of ingredients and equipment. Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during busy periods. Monitor food safety practices, ensuring compliance with health regulations. Assist in menu development by contributing innovative sushi ideas and seasonal offerings. Help train junior kitchen staff in sushi preparation techniques and food safety practices.

Skills

Proven experience as a cook or chef in a restaurant setting, preferably with a focus on sushi or Japanese cuisine. Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary skills. Familiarity with kitchen equipment and tools used in sushi making. Excellent understanding of food safety standards and regulations within the culinary industry. Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining high standards of quality and presentation. Strong teamwork skills, with a willingness to help colleagues as needed in the kitchen environment. Creative flair for meal presentation and an eye for detail in culinary artistry.

Pay: 12.10-15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 50 per week
