Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Maker to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and a keen interest in Japanese cuisine. As a Sushi Maker, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene. This role requires an individual who is detail-oriented, creative, and able to thrive in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

Duties

Prepare and assemble sushi rolls, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards. Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and handled in compliance with food safety regulations. Assist with meal preparation by chopping vegetables, cooking rice, and preparing sauces as needed. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including workstations and equipment. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service during busy periods. Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs to management. Stay updated on culinary trends and techniques related to sushi making.

Requirements

Proven experience in a kitchen environment, preferably within a restaurant setting. Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations. Strong skills in food preparation and culinary techniques. Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues. A passion for Japanese cuisine and willingness to learn new skills related to sushi making. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as required.

Pay: From 12.41 per hour
