HE ROLE
On behalf of our Leicester Client, we are seeking a
Team Leader - Specialist Support (Autism / ADHD / Complex Behaviour)
to oversee and support the care of a male client with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, learning difficulties, and challenging physical behaviours.
Support mainly takes place in the family home (LE3), with occasional community activities such as swimming (always 2:1 staffing). The Team Leader will provide direct support while also taking responsibility for staff supervision, rota management, paperwork, and day-to-day operational oversight. The role requires close collaboration with the client's mother, who oversees the overall care arrangements.
You will be expected to work 30- 40 hours per week. Please note that this role is not at the University.

Duties and responsibilities
Create and manage staff rotas, ensuring safe staffing levels at all times.
Complete staff observations, supervisions, and appraisals as required.
Oversee staff performance and address concerns such as lateness, conduct, or policy compliance.
Approve and check staff timesheets accurately and promptly.
Ensure staff follow sign-in and sign-out procedures.
Maintain and oversee all relevant paperwork, including support plans, logs, and incident forms.
Contribute to onboarding and induction of new staff members with Unitemps and Client Support the client with personal care, morning routines, and meal preparation.
Engage the client in preferred activities such as long walks, swimming (2:1), creative projects, and reading development.
Provide consistent interaction built around his interests (e.g., Marvel, DC Comics, Doctor Who).
Help maintain a structured, calm, and predictable environment, avoiding overstimulating settings.
Drive the client to activities or appointments as required (mileage paid).Implement behaviour support strategies and use appropriate de-escalation techniques.
Respond calmly to challenging physical behaviours, ensuring safety and dignity.
Monitor and update risk assessments and support plans where appropriate.
Ensure accurate recording of incidents, patterns, triggers, and behavioural observations.
Work collaboratively with the client's mother, other staff, and professionals involved in his care.
Lead clear and structured handovers to ensure consistency across shifts.
Maintain open communication and provide updates on the client's wellbeing, progress, and any notable changes
Skills and experience
Level 3 Qualification in Health & Social Care (or equivalent).Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, ASD, ADHD, and challenging physical behaviours.
Experience completing or contributing to care plans and risk assessments.
Confident in supervising others and taking a lead role during shifts
To possess a positive mindset and to lead by example for others
Demonstrates strong empathy and emotional understanding when supporting both the client and the staff team.
Collaborative working style with the ability to build trust, communicate openly, and foster a supportive team environment.
Excellent timekeeping skills, punctual and excellent ability to remain calm under pressure.
Valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle and the vehicle will need business insurance too
Desirable: Accredited de-escalation/crisis intervention training
Previous experience as a Team Leader, Senior Support Worker, or similar supervisory role.
Experience coordinating rotas or completing staff appraisals.
Enhanced DBS required (DBS on the Update Service)
