Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Upholsterer to join our production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for padding, covering, and upholstering furniture and mattresses using both manual and power tools. This role requires precision, craftsmanship, and a keen eye for quality.

Key Responsibilities

Upholster bed bases, mattresses, headboards, and other furniture items using a range of materials such as fabric, leather, and foam. Measure, cut, and sew fabric or leather coverings according to design specifications. Fit and attach padding, webbing, and springs using hand tools, glue, staples, and tacks. Repair or replace upholstery on returned or damaged products. Follow health and safety standards in operating equipment and handling materials. Work closely with the production and quality control teams to ensure finished products meet company standards. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the upholstery work area. Interpret work orders, blueprints, and drawings to meet customer specifications.

Skills and Experience Required

Proven experience as an Upholsterer in a manufacturing environment, preferably in mattresses or furniture production. Skilled in using upholstery tools (manual and powered). Understanding of different types of fabrics, foams, and upholstery techniques. Ability to work from patterns and specifications accurately. Attention to detail and ability to maintain a consistent standard of work. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Basic sewing and cutting skills preferred. Physically fit and capable of handling materials and equipment safely.

Desirable Qualifications

NVQ or relevant vocational training in Upholstery or Furniture Manufacturing (preferred but not essential). Forklift or material-handling experience is a plus.
