Job Description

We are looking for a new afternoon/evening receptionist to join our front of house team. Our busy practice boasts a friendly team of receptionists, veterinary nurses and vets. The role is varied and interesting and involves the following:Meeting and greeting clients with their pets when they come to the surgery for appointments or procedures. Answering the telephone as the first point of contact for clients calling the surgery. This may be to book appointments, order medication, general queries about our practice/service, asking for prices etc. Using the computer system for booking appointments or answering general queries. Handing out repeat prescriptions that have already been dispensed. Taking payments, both in person and over the phone. General administrative tasks including filing, scanning paperwork preparation etc

The successful applicant should have a reliable outlook with a good general level of education.



We are looking for someone with:Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to enjoy interacting with members of the public face-to-face or on the phone - sometimes in quite stressful situations if their pet is very unwell or injured. A good empathy with people who are upset or worried about their animals. Good typing and generalised computer skills. Full training of our computer system will be given. Excellent organisational skills. A flexible approach to working hours, as some overtime may be required. An enjoyment of working with people and animals! Prior experience of working as a veterinary/medical practice receptionist would be highly advantageous but not essential, as full training will be given to the successful applicant.


Your shift pattern



This is a part time role working 28 hours per week;

Monday - 1.30 pm to 7.30 pm Tuesday - 1.30 pm to 7.30 pm Wednesday -4 pm to 7 pm Thursday - 4 pm to 7 pm Friday - 8 am to 1 pm and 4 pm to 7 pm Saturdays - 8 am to 1 pm (one Saturday in three only)
